London - The International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) today granted the 2017 Diversity Award to the US organization Football Without Borders (FSF), at a gala with headquarters in this city.

According to the international organization, the award presented by its General Secretary, Fatma Samoura, in its second edition, responds to the use that FSF gives to football 'as a key tool to build trust and help the integration of young refugees in places like the US and Uganda. '

The institution was chosen over Moving the Goalposts, an entity that fights for the social inclusion of girls and young women in the coastal counties of Kilifi and Kwale, Kenya.

The selection was made by a jury formed by 11 personalities of the so-called 'most universal of sports' and the promotion of diversity, including a representative of the winners of the inaugural edition in 2016, Slum Soccer, of India.

The 2017 FIFA Diversity Award ceremony was presented by former English international Alex Scott and was attended by former Nigerian star Emmanuel Amunike.

As the winner of this year, the FSF is invited to form the jury for the 2018 version.
