Fidel in a lyricism of light

The first time that poet Reynaldo Riverón saw the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro so close was in 1989, during the inauguration of Alquízar refrigerator, a work that the leader of the Cuban Revolution described as "labor feat ", because it was built in record time by 35th brigade in that municipality.

The author of Hours of April was then 31 years old and never again saw Fidel in person. Twenty-seven years later he would be shocked, bluntly, by the news of the death of the revolutionary leader.

An inexplicable force then took him to the computer and wrote Elegy without a name, three sonnets written as a single poem and published in el artemiseño newspaper days after the death of the author of The History Will Absolve Me.

"The commotion for the news was brutal in me," Riveron acknowledges now. Suddenly I got inspired and I wrote those verses. I had never had such a poetic inspiration. "

Just those verses were released, a musician from Bauta , Israel Garcia (Cachirulo) decided to musicalize them. "I have not been able to listen to Cachi's work, but I'm anxious to do it. That is why I am eagerly awaiting an invitation from the poet Mireisy García to her Boomerang musical club , on November 24th, at 10 o'clock in the morning, to see if I have just heard the musical version of my work dedicated to Fidel. "

Some time later, I wrote the verses in a more lyrical and clean way which are part of the book Elegía por siempre (Artemisa sings to Fidel) , now in Unicornio publishing house.

Regarding the acceptance that this book could have, compiled by his compatriot José Alberto Nápoles and where international poets as significant as the Argentinian Juan Gelman and Artemiseños Angelito Valiente and Renito Fuentes appear, Riverón says with much optimism:

"I hope it has a great reception because it is a very sincere and very necessary book and I hope it is promoted" by libraries, bookstores, schools of all levels, universities, cultural institutions ...

To close our brief meeting, Reynaldo Riverón, member of Uneac with several important titles in his curriculum and always with his head full of verses, summarizes the special importance that he gives to these verses.

"I summarized everything I had in my heart in those sorrowful days. See them published in a book and wherever it is necessary, is the greatest gift for me ... and the best possible way of payment ".

For this truth and because we know the creative greatness of this author from Alquizar , we put to consideration of the readers fragments of the verses entitled That Hazardous November.

I
Aquel noviembre azaroso,
aquel noviembre de mito,
aquel noviembre proscrito,
vulnerable y escabroso.
Aquel noviembre luctuoso
devino mística agenda,
inexorable leyenda
con espejismos de plata,
como un aullido escarlata,
como una irónica ofrenda.

II
Inefable caravana
preludian las primaveras,
en un crisol de banderas
florecientes en La Habana.
La incesante mole emana,
crepita de luz vehemente.
La multitud es un puente.
La soledad se evapora,
en un destello de aurora
y un azul resplandeciente.

III
Un desborde de avenida,
la muchedumbre doliente,
humana, febril, urgente,
desacatan la partida.
Cantos de sombra y herida,
enarbolan un cartel,
empuñan tinta y papel,
todo es alud, todo aflora,
y una voz embajadora
sentencia: ¡yo soy Fidel!

IV
El clamor todo lo inunda,
Vibra con piel de marea,
Un espíritu argentea,
una llama lo secunda.
Tras atmósfera fecunda,
emerge la geografía,
se desata en sinfonía
y se expande hasta la fiebre.
Va peregrino el pesebre
sediento de lejanía.
