Havana - The high level of scientific rigor prevailing in the International Agri-Sciences 2017 Congress was showed in the presentation of 120 papers and 255 posters, the secretary said on Friday.

It was also evidenced in the presentation of five keynote papers, 11 thematic lectures, three symposiums and a round table in a wide and varied range of aspects, the scientific secretary, Miguel Pérez, noted.

Such aspects cover more than 20 topics, from the use of tools for modeling different crops such as vegetables, fruits, sorghum, corn and soy, to the efficient use of energy in agricultural processes, informatics and technology applied to technical services, sustainable management of natural resources, employment of biotechnology, and alternatives to manage and control pests.

On the closing day, the delegates paid special tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (marking the first anniversary of his death today), with the presentation of the book Impronta de Fidel en la Ganadería Revolucionara, by a prestigious group of authors, headed by José Millar Barruecos.

More than 350 delegates from 20 countries participated in Agri-Sciences 2017, including Cuba, Mexico, the United States, Ecuador, Belgium, Argentina, Romania, Turkey, Peru, Nicaragua and New Zealand.
