Fidel and the revolutionary culture

Fidel Castro's commitment to the development of national culture began from the revolutionary triumph in 1959. The inauguration of cultural institutions, activities, international fairs, creation of associations, congresses, symposia, workshops and many actions that reflect Fidel's point of view regarding culture.
"Culture is the shield and sword of the nation"; executing the thought: Fidel is in the National Publishing House, in the National Ballet of Cuba, in the National Library, in the Academy of Plastic Arts of San Alejandro, in The Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), and in the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore, among other institutions, in the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños. The world knew at that moment the universal idea of the Commander, unite the culture from the four latitudes.
"The Revolution can not pretend to suffocate art or culture," he once said, "when one of the goals and one of the fundamental purposes of the Revolution is to develop art and culture, precisely, so that art and culture become a true heritage of the people." It is culture that makes us strong, independent, defenders of values and freedom, it is what gives us the knowledge, the principles, the will to advance, all this thanks to Fidel.
