Chinese-Cuban Project will Increase Power Generation

Cienfuegos, Dec 22 (Prensa Latina) The MOFCOM collaboration project between China and Cuba will increase power generation by solar energy in this central province to 16 megawatts/hour soon, the newspaper 5 de Septiembre reported today.

It is the Yaguaramas photovoltaic park, the fifth of its kind built in Cienfuegos province, where the first such facility in Cuba was inaugurated in June 2013.

The power generator donated by the Chinese Government was designed to produce five megawatts/hour during peak demand using solar energy captured by 19,440 photovoltaic panels.
Experts and workers from the Cuban company Grupos Electrógenos y Servicios Eléctricos are putting the finishing touches on the project.
Chinese technicians and Cuban specialists will evaluate the start-up phase of the facility in the next few days, as it should synchronize with the national power grid before this year's end.
Photovoltaic parks in Cienfuegos have generated nearly 40,000 megawatts since the first such facility, designed to produce 2.6 megawatts/hour, was inaugurated.
