Shortage of Time for the Caribbean Baseball Series

Since some time ago, the Baseball Series Confederation of the Caribbean aspires to increase the number of teams in the Latin American Baseball Series.
The champion teams from Nicaragua, Colombia and Panama will be part of the five teams which were disputing the Caribbean Baseball Series.
Nevertheless, the main direction of the Caribbean baseball, which wants to increase the number of participants, will be facing a serious obstacle that is the time.
The Commission of the Baseball from the Caribbean, Juan Francisco Puello Herrera, said to the Spanish EFE agency that the entrance of a higher number of teams that the tournament depends on the calendars of games and recalling that the agreement they have with the organizing baseball of the United States and they cannot play games after February 10th.
“Since long time ago, I have tried that the leagues members to understand that they should begin their tournaments a little before and shorten their final stage. We should start the Caribbean Baseball Series and concluding it on February 2nd as it is too late, otherwise, it would be impossible to do it.” Juan Francisco Puello Herrera highlighted.
“If the numbers of teams were increased and were not initiated before the seasons, the Caribbean Baseball Series could not be carried out, besides, bringing more teams represent a higher cost and it would be then necessary to think about a different venue (Second stadium).” He added.
Puello Puello Herrera commented that the Confederation is working on increasing the television´s incomes that request a wider related cover. We are working on it and I hope the baseball leagues could understand any time now that we have to think further on the economic aspect.” Puello Puello Herrera said.
Since some years ago, it has been mentioned the representatives from Colombia, Nicaragua and Panama as very likely guests and it has also been highlighted the Asian baseball leagues from Korea, Japan and Taiwan in order to participate in that tournament as a way to provide a more international nature to it and not a regional one only.” He said.
To put into practice these plans, Puello Puello Herrera desires that the leagues could start their tournaments on October 1st and ending them by the end of January.”
