Cuban Minister to Assess Task-Life's Execution in Eastern Cuba

Guantanamo, Cuba - Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment, Elba Rosa Perez, and a commission from that institution, will assess the progress of the Tarea-Vida (Task-Life) in this eastern province.
Deputy Minister, Fidel Santana; the National Director of the Environment department, Odalis Goicochea; and other officials of that scientific institution, will exchange with specialists of the territory on this province's results in that area.
Reforestation in coastal ecosystems, the assembly of several water treatment plants and the promotion of agroecological practices are among the actions carried out in Guantanamo as part of the Cuban State's plan to face climate change.
Studies for the protection of the areas surrounding the Baracoa waterfront and the reforestation of the Toa River basin, are other tasks undertaken in this region.
This plan also includes the elimination of illegalities in the coastal areas, so that more than 30 organisms and entities are directly linked in its execution, managed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), according to official reports.
The provincial delegations of the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG) and the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH) are the institutions standing out in this task.
