Cuba and Russia Have a Great Future, says Ambassador

Russia’s ambassador in Cuba Mijail Kamynin said on Friday in Havana that the strategic relations between both countries is at its best moment and has a great future.
The diplomat, which concluded his mission on the Caribbean island, participated in celebrations on National Russia Day held at the Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, ICAP.
Kamynin said that relations between Havana and Moscow has recently reached a superior level, and added that for his country, Cuba is an important partner.
He added that he is concluding his work as Ambassador and expressed admiration for the firmness of the Cuban people in defense of its values and principles.
The Russian diplomat ratified that Moscow will continue increasing its friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Cuba in correspondence with the continuity of his country’s foreign policy and priorities at the international scene, confirmed by the re-election of President Vladimir Putin.
He highlighted that Russia will always support Havana in its demand to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US and the return of the illegally occupied US Naval Base in Guantanamo.
The diplomat said that the ties with Cuba advance successfully and the presence of Russian companies continue to grow in the national market, while a number of new projects related with the island’s economic development plan to the year 2030 continue to increase.
Kamynin wishes the best for the Cuban people, the new President of the Council of State and Ministers Miguel Diaz-Canel and the First Secretary of the Communist Party, Raul Castro and success with the application of the Economic Guidelines.
Speaking at the activity, ICAP President Fernando Gonzalez highlighted the thousands of Cuban youth that studied in the former Soviet Union.
Both countries currently continue giving special priority to bilateral relations, exchanges continue, and the political dialog at the highest level, said the ICAP President.
Gonzalez added that Cuba priorities its joint economic projects in the fields of energy, transportation, steel and biotechnology.
