Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister in Working Visit Through the Caribbean

Bridgetown - Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, Rogelio Sierra continues his working visit through the Caribbean, in Barbados, where he reiterated the wish to continue strengthening historical relations with that country.

'I am here to emphasize the ties between our governments, to enforce our bilateral relations,' said Sierra in his arrival in this Caribbean nation, where he is scheduled to meet with his counterpart, permanent secretary Simone Rudder.

The vice minister said that 'the relationship with Barbados will not change. On the contrary, it will grow, strengthen and expand, reported Barbados Today newspaper.

He will also make courtesy visits to the general governor, Dame Sandra Prunella; Prime Minister, Mia Mottley; to the Foreign Affairs minister, Jerome Walcott, as well as hold other meetings with personalities of the Barbadian society.

During his stay here, from day 8, Sierra met with the top leaders of the solidarity movement with Cuba, Robert 'Bobby' Clarke and David Comissiong, before which he expressed that the leadership of his country changes to continue to develop and continue with the revolution.

He also reflected on the 45 years of relations with Barbados, including the granting of health scholarships and other educational programs by Cuba, as well as cultural exchanges, adding that both nations will find new dynamic sectors in which to exchange and cooperate.

About this particular visit Sierra wrote in his personal Twitter account the great honor he feels to be in this country that the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro visited in three occasions.

The tour of the Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister of Cuba includes programs in Guyana and Jamaica, countries that together with Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago became the first member states of Caricom to break Cuba's regional isolation and establish diplomatic relations in 1972.
