Cuban Economic Association Reports on Current Activity

Havana - The president of the Economic Society of Friends of the Country (SEAP), Zoila Benitez, informs today on the main activities of the entity in the current stage, including its general council.
According to a SEAP statement, the plan includes actions to honor the six decades of the triumph of the revolution and a workshop related to the 290 years of the foundation of the University of Havana.
One scientific day is included for the creation of that society and another for the 150 years of the beginning of the war of independence and of the national anthem.
The Institution announced the holding of its general meeting on January 9, 2019, during which it will celebrate the quarter of a century of existence and the 500 years of Havana.
This entity was created 225 years ago by distinguished personalities of Havana with the support of Governor Don Luis de las Casas on January 9, 1793.
According to the statement, the awards ceremony of the 'Jose de la Luz y Caballero' and 'Francisco Arango y Parreño' Prizes, distinguished members of the SEAP in colonial times, is also expected.
This institution has its headquarters in the capital and territorial branches in Holguin, Matanzas, Camagüey and Pinar del Rio.
It is integrated by professionals of high academic level of diverse disciplines, organisms and institutions, and among its fundamental missions is to suggest, from its investigations and studies, proposals of solution to the economic problems faced by the country.
