Cuba Present in First Forum of Unesco Associates

Paris - Cuba took part this week in the first Forum of Unesco Associates, attended by diverse committed actors and interested in the mandate of the organization, mainly the implementation of the Agenda 2030 of Sustainable Development.
As diplomatic sources referred today, the Havana ambassador to Unesco, Dulce Buergo, considered the venue a propitious moment to promote Cuban achievements in education, culture, science, communication and information, as well as explore new spaces for cooperation and collaboration in diverse levels.
The event was also a space to ratify Cuba's commitment with Unesco and the values that it represents, respecting its own foundational principles, said the sources.
Many attendants recognized the political will of the Cuban state to the national economic and social development and Cuba's solidarity and friendship with other peoples was also recognized in the thrust for local development, they said.
The First Forum of Associates was inaugurateds by the general director of Unesco, Audrey Azoulay, who highlighted the importance of multilateralism and international cooperation to achieve the objectives and targets of the entity amid the present world complex scenario.
In this context, she highlighted that for the first time, Unesco gathered present and potential allies, member states, international organizations and private institutions to discuss a common issue: the implementation of wemblematic programs and initiatives of the Agenda 2030.

With the question of What can young people do about climate change?, representatives from 19 Caribbean countries are meeting today at the Havana´s Nacional Hotel as part of UNESCO's 2nd International School of Sciences.

Fidel's presence was recalled in several Ariguanabo centers and institutions. Students from the Eduardo Abela Vocational School of Art, located in San Antonio de los Baños, paid tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, through dance and music.
