Two outstanding personalities

The Municipal Museum José Rafael Lauzán dedicated a special tribute to two outstanding personalities: Odilio González Rodríguez (teacher and cultural promoter); and Ray Medina Febles (union leader and cultural promoter).
Estela Pérez Fernández, director of the Municipal Museum and José Miguel Delgado, Historian of San Antonio de los Baños, referred to the work of Odilio González Rodríguez, the creator of the ''Ateneo del Ariguanabo'', a cultural activity developed in San Antonio de los Baños. José Miguel Delgado said that Odilio González Rodríguez was a distinguished teacher and journalist. Ray Medina Febles, was a prominent union leader who emigrated to the United States during the time of Fulgencio Batista and returned in October 1960.
During the meeting the daughters of both personalities recalled anecdotes. Tania González, daughter of Odilio, highlighted the qualities of her father as a teacher and cultural promoter. Both ariguanabenses cultivated values such as honesty and love for human beings and work, said Estela Pérez Fernández, director of the museum.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
