Machado Ventura presides over national act of decorations of the CDRs

José Ramón Machado Ventura, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, presided over the national act of decorations of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), which took place within the scope of the IX Congress of the organization.

In the ceremony, which took place this Thursday in the El Laguito Protocol Hall, the National Executive Secretariat of the CDR recognized the outstanding work of members of the grassroots organization and collectives with a proven revolutionary trajectory and fidelity to the Homeland.

The September 28 banner, the highest stimulus granted by the Committees to structures or entities that meritoriously fulfill the tasks of the Committees, was delivered on this occasion to 14 collectives and grassroots organizations.

Zones 59 in the municipality of Viñales, Pinar del Río; 7 in San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa; 52 in Cotorro, Havana; 195 in Cienfuegos; 83 in Manicaragua, Villa Clara; 12 in La Sierpe, Sancti Spíritus; 92 in Ciego de Ávila; 259 in Las Tunas; 118 in Songo-La Maya, Santiago de Cuba; 228 in Guantánamo; and 87 in Isla de la Juventud.

In addition, the Radio Llanura de Colón radio station, from Matanzas; the pre-university 8 de Octubre, from the municipality of Esmeralda, and the radio program En el Barrio, from Niquero, Granma, deserved this stimulus.

During the ceremony, Machado Ventura and Carlos Rafael Miranda Martínez, member of the Central Committee and the Council of State and national coordinator of the CDR, imposed 16 medals for the Defense of the Homeland and the Unity of the Neighborhood.

This recognition is granted by the Council of State to comrades who have maintained a constant work at the service of the largest mass organization in Cuba.

In addition, the 28th of September Distinction was awarded to 15 members with a broad revolutionary trajectory and a demonstrated dedication to the work of the Committees.

Other members of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, as well as members of foreign delegations from Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Laos, Mexico, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam and Bolivia also attended the event.
