Praise the wisdom

Turning portrait into emotion, reflection and spiritual revelation is the artist's greatest effort before the blank space of a cardboard or a canvas.

That challenge, that always distant goal, has been the one imposed by Jorge Alejandro Guerra Solomon (San Antonio de los Baños, 1999) along with some personalities and creators of his native homeland, in his exhibition Praise to wisdom.

Fourth year student of the specialty of Engraving at San Alejandro Art Academy, the young artist makes an introspection in seven personalities of culture and thought in San Antonio Township . It is the first phase of a larger exhibition.

Praise to wisdom, initially grouping musicians, historians, teachers and promoters of culture devoted by the social meaning of their works and their feelings of humanism and Cubanness. Wisdom is kindness. But these portraits will not be the only ones.

The firmness of the line, its delicacy or ease declare Alejandro's vision of his models. There is the veneration, the permanence and the wisdom that he praises, as the goal of his exhibition.

The simplicity of the material (graphite on cardboard) finds correspondence in the simple greatness of those who serve people without expecting anything in return. The firmness and clarity in the stroke subscribe to the realistic treatment not exempt from a soft lyricism in the portrayed ones - the same with which they are distinguished not only by the artist - but by the community to which they give their talent. The work is thorough with the textures.

The light leads to meditation and the depth of the soul. The look turns into anxiety, hope, rejuvenation and confirmation.

These are the true revelations proposed by the young Alejandro Guerra Solomon, convinced that the feeling embraces what is well known.
