Cuban beach volleyball duos finish 4 and 5 in Dominican Republic

Cuba, Oct 8 (acn) The Cuban duos of Yanisleidis Sanchez - Arlin Hechavarria and Karell Peña-Luis Reyes ranked fourth and fifth, in that order, in the fifth and final stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit, in Boca Chica, the Dominican Republic.

According to the contest website, the Sanchez- Hechavarria women´s pair matched the result obtained in the previous stage of Punta Cana, also in the DR, when losing 0-2 (14-21 and 19-21) in the bronze medal match to Americans Kelly Larsen-Emily Stockman.

Meanwhile, Peña and Reyes, gold medalists in the fourth stop, beat 2-1 (13-21, 21-13 and 15-9) Guatemalans Leonardo and Garcia in the fight for the fifth seat.

Thus, Peña and Reyes earned 360 points –plus another 600 in Punta Cana- for the NORCECA ranking on their way to the qualification to the Pan American Games of Lima 2019, while Sanchez and Hechavarria won 420 units in each tournament.

The 5th and final stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit was attended by 20 duets of each sex.
