Miguel Diaz-Canel Stresses Patriotic Sentiment in Cuba

Havana - President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Wednesday noted Cuba''s deep patriotic sentiment with the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the beginning of wars for independence.
We are in #LaDemajagua, a place with the greatest amount of patriotic sentiments #SomosCuba and #SomosContinuidad, the president posted on his first Twitter message.
On Wednesday, Cubans are commemorating the anniversary of the beginning, on October 10, 1868, of the wars for independence, a revolutionary process that continues today.
The armed uprising on that date in Cuba against Spanish colonialism was led by Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, who is considered the Father of the Homeland.
The event takes place in La Demajagua farm, in Granma province, which was the home of the sugar mill of the same name, where Cespedes proclaimed the abolition of slavery.
