The debates on the Draft Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, demonstrate the democratic character of the popular consultations held in San Antonio de los Baños since August 13. According to members of the Reform Group in the territory "The quality of the meetings is an opportunity for the people to participate in a process that involves them completely''.
Article 31, concerning the importance of work for the realization of individual, collective and social projects, stands out; in addition to Article 68, which establishes new conceptions about marriage. With respect to Article 121, paragraph 404, it is proposed to keep the President of the Republic, as long as he has the physical-mental aptitudes necessary to assume the responsibility, in addition to the electors' decision. Regarding Article 170, the provincial governor must be elected by the people, which according to the Law, will depend on the President of the Republic, the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of Ministers".
Maribel Bravo David, member of the Municipal Bureau of the Party, in charge of the political-ideological sphere in San Antonio de los Baños, said: "The citizens of this geography have allowed -with total disposition- that the consultation process should proceed as planned. We propose changes in the Project, our future Magna Carta, so that on February 24, 2019, when we commemorate 124 years of the resumption Cuba's Struggle for Independence, the realities of the island appear in each article."
"We are doing Cuba, we are going towards a prosperous and sustainable future. Sometimes it becomes difficult, but we have mambisa blood, we are Moncada, Girón ... we are Triumph; this time it will not be different " -added Bravo David.
More than fifty thousand ariguanabenses participate in this process, becoming involved under the pretext of "Strengthening unity".

Havana - Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto was appointed president of Casa de las Américas, the center's website La Ventana reported today.
Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
