Contribution of science to Livestock and Agriculture

Artemisa, Cuba - Three research centers contribute to the development of agriculture and livestock in San Antonio de los Baños: the Tobacco Research Institute, the National Center for Parasitology and the Experimental Station of Medicinal Plants. These institutes, with their research projects, advise, guide and train producers through seminars and workshops, with the aim of applying measures and good practices for agricultural development.
In San Antonio de los Baños, food is produced for rabbits, pigs and livestock, among other animals, to comply with the provisions of the Party and Revolution Guidelines. They plant mulberry, titania, moringa, king grass and sugar cane, among other nutritious plants, whose protein level guarantees the growth and feeding of livestock. They also produce protein plants to successfully complete the animal fattening program.
In the Institute of Tobacco Research, research projects contribute to the quality of each agricultural product. Likewise, the National Center for Parasitology indicates how to apply methods that can reduce diseases in some plants. It should be noted that the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), together with the institutions, works for participation in the Science and Technology Forum. This event is held with the aim of discussing about agricultural and livestock production, with the required quality.
