Havana will Host 16th ALBA-TCP Summit

Managua - Havana will host next December the 16th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP), it was announced here.

So it was known in Managua, at the end of the 17th session of the Political Council of the bloc, which reiterated on Thursday its commitment with Latin American and Caribbean unity and reaffirmed the need to strengthen uynity in diversity.

After a marathonic journey, the ministers and heads of delegations of the member states of the Alliance adopted a declaration in which they rejected the attempts of the U.S. administration to revive the Monroe Doctrine'.

Doctrine they described as unacceptable political justification of interventionism and imperialist domination in the region.

Contrary to that, the ALBA-TCP reaffirmed the need to strtengthen unity in the diversity, through political concertation and integration, as well as the defense of sovereignty and self-determination of the peoples.

That, they added, based on the Proclaim of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, approved at the Second Summit of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), on January 29, 2014, in Havana.

They also ratified their unconditional support to Nicaragua, Venezuela, Bolivia and Cuba, countries which have resisted the imperial strategy of destabilization.

During the meeting, delegates analyzed the situation of the region, as well as proposals, actions and decisions on the bloc's agenda for the period 2019-2020, while they made a balance of the organization.

Founded in 2004, the ALBA-TCP is an integration platform of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, with emphasis on solidarity, complementarity, justice and cooperation.
