Eduardo Abela transcends

The caricature, the ingenuity of a character and the critical spirit of the creator, harmoniously achieve conspiracy and transcendence to register in the memory of a people. On November 9, 1965, the prominent Cuban painter and caricaturist Eduardo Abela, a representative figure of the new painting, passed away in Havana. Abela won a permanent place for the reunion, in the Villa del Humor.
The Ariguanabo was the inspiration for his work and also marked his start in graphic humor. His work is universal because of the transcendence of the message from his most visible nationalist stage, represented by "Guajiros" - that emblematic painting from 1938 - until his stage as a cartoonist, one of the best paintings of all time. The popular imaginary has an icon ''El Bobo'', which from the pages of ''La Semana'' became a sign of rebellion against the excesses of Machado's tyranny.
Behind the comic situations there is a philosophy, a symbol, a nationality, his beloved Island. Human nature is exhibited in each caricature; reality emerges; the sensitivity to pain, social and human problems shudders, because the graphic humorist has an art in his hands, and like all art, he must have a strong idea, which is, in short, what shapes the style through the vision of the creator. And above all, it turns the caricature into an art, that's why ''El Bobo de Abela'' is inscribed in the history of humor in Cuba.
Abela assumed challenges: those of his job and life. The creator masterfully took possession of the creation and the ability to observe, along with the geometric poetry that guided his steps. Eduardo Abela managed to break down obstacles to continue as a reference for new creators.
I perceive your footprint as a village artist who loved art. The Museum of Humor keeps the window open and immortalizes the graphic character. Abela accompanies the ariguanabenses and welcomes visitors with his art, always eternal.
