Constitution Is a Syrian Issue, No Foreign Meddling, Jaafari Says

Damascus - Syria's media highlight Tuesday words from the delegate to the United Nations, Bashar Jaafari, who stated the constitution, is a matter for the Syrians and any idea that means interference is unacceptable.
SANA and Al-Suriyah, among others, are both reviewing Jaafari's words during a debate in the Security Council about the Middle East.
The reports highlight Syria's assessments, its willingness to continue negotiations on the issue and the positive role Russia and Iran have played in promoting them.
Syria addresses the issue based on basic principles of real commitment to its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, where there is no ground for terrorism, the Syrian delegate explained.
The summarized speeches point out that Jaafari clearly stated that no preconditions or conclusions can be imposed on the commission's work or the recommendations which could come out of it.
Jaafari indicated that Syria wants the success of the new Special Envoy - Geir Pedersen - and warmly welcomes his role as facilitator of the commission's work but not as a third part in it, and in terms of neutrality, impartiality and non-interference.
