Havana - The president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, will arrive on Thursday in Cuba, where he will fulfill an busy agenda that includes talks with local authorities, it was reported here.

According to the program, Sanchez will pay tribute to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at the memorial that bears his name in Havana and will meet with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel to address issues of common interest.

Sanchez and Díaz-Canel met in New York in September in the framework of the high-level segment of the United Nations General Assembly.

During his visit, which will end on Friday, Sanchez will tour Havana's historic heart, which was declared a World Heritage Site in 1982 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

In additio, the two countries will sign cooperation agreements, a Cuba-Spain Business Forum will take place at the Packard Hotel, and the Architecture Exhibition at 'Lab26' will be inaugurated.

Cuba and Spain have maintained uninterrupted diplomatic relations since 1902.

Both countries have repeatedly expressed their will to promote political dialogue and institutional ties to boost economic, commercial and financial relations and investment.

In 2017, Spain was Cuba's third major trading partner and is the most represented country at Havana's International Trade Fair.
