Latin American Film Festival to Receive a Platinum Award

Havana - The 40th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema of Havana will receive a Platinum Ibero-American Film Award as an acknowledgement of its contribution to enrich the cultural identity of the region, organizers said on Thursday.
The Festival, scheduled from December 6 to 16, will also be recognized for its 'work of dedication, promotion and promotion', the Board of Directors of the Platinum Awards noted.
For four decades, the event has brought together important figures of Latin American cinema and has become a space for exchange between the countries of the region and European nations, according to the press release.
The 40th edition of the Festival will be dedicated to the 90th birthday of the outstanding Cuban moviemaker Tomas Gutierrez Alea, Titon (1928-1996).
At the same time, the Platinum Awards, created in 2014, have highlighted the work of the Ibero-American film industry made by public or private institutions around the world.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
