Economy and constitutional reform priorities for Cuban Parliament

Havana, Cuba -The analysis of the opinions offered during the consultation on the constitutional reform process and the behavior of the country's economic indicators and programs will focus the debates of Cuban deputies during the II session of the IX legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power.

The meeting will begin next December 21 and the permanent work commissions will meet in advance (on December 16 and 17) and the deputies will receive information and study the proposals of the Drafting Commission of the Constitutional Project in which the opinions offered by the population during the assemblies that took place from August 13 to November 15 were gathered.

During this period, more than 600,000 proposals were made and analyzed by a National Processing Team, a task that was valued as very transparent and responsible by Homero Acosta, Secretary of the Council of State.

The deputies will also assess the performance of the 2018 economic plan and the proposals for the coming year, as well as the proposals for the law that covers the State budget for 2019.

The standing committees will concentrate on the follow-up to the implementation of the Guidelines and agreements of the previous session.

The municipal food self-sufficiency program, the livestock recovery program, the preparations for the sugar harvest, the construction and rehabilitation of houses, the improvement of computerization and the transportation of cargo and passengers by rail, are on the agenda of debate released by the parliamentary authorities.

The deputies will also review the epidemiological situation of the country, the program of attention to the infertile couple and the family doctor and nurse, the continuity of studies and social service of recent graduates, the State Plan for Confronting Climate Change and actions for the implementation of cultural policy in public spaces.
