The tournament will take place on December 15-16 and will be attended by 89 contestants (35 girls and 54 boys) who will compete only in the individual events.

The local girls´ team includes Arays Cordero, Maria Girao and Melisa Perez, while Nelson Ariel Suarez, Alejandro Caraballo and Lekian Valdes make up the boys´ side.

It will be a high-quality competition as there are registered well positioned fencers in the world ranking such as Singapore's Amita Berthier, leader of the girl´s global list, and Venezuelan Anabella Acurero (12).

Meanwhile, Egiptian Mohamed Hamza and Argentina´s Antonio Sarvello, sixth and seventh on the boy´s world ranking, are the 1st and 2nd seed of the contest respectively.

The Caribbean island is also training to attend next year, on January 11-13, the FIE Women´s Epee Individual & Team Senior World Cup, also with headquarters in the Cuban capital.

However, the main goal for next season of the Cuban fencers will be the Pan American Games of Lima, Peru, from July 26 to August 11.
