The official gazette of Turkey published on Thursday a presidential decree establishing the basis for the creation and operation of a space agency, which should carry out the National Program in that area. The agency will have financial and administrative autonomy, as well as its own budget, and will start operating 'as soon as possible,' according to the Minister of Industry and Technology, Mustafa Varank.
In his statement he assured that the new organization will pave the way to 'strengthen the aerospace industry, improve the scientific infrastructure and human resources in the field of space technology and boost our capabilities'.
Varank also explained that the agency will seek multilateral and bilateral cooperation with its international counterparts, adjusting to the rights of Turkey within the framework of international law and the United Nations.
