Migrant Girl from Guatemala Dies of Thirst and Hunger in the US

Mexico - A Guatemalan girl died on the US side after spending several days without drinking water or eating after being stopped after crossing the border from Mexico with another 200 people, it was known today

The sad news is recorded in numerous digital and print media detailing the child died in the custody of the US Border Patrol after the group's detention last week in the New Mexico desert.

It must have been terrible the suffering of the creature that endured for several days temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius without drinking water or eating, which dehydrated her to death in the midst of convulsions, according to the published accounts in which it is assured that the fact was reported Thursday by a spokesman for the border patrol who says he died at the hospital where she was transferred.

The seven-year-old girl, of whom no identity details are given, was detained in her father's company on December 6 after crossing the border. A few hours after her arrest, she was rushed to the town of El Paso by helicopter, where she had a cardiac arrest. Despite being 'resurrected', the girl could not recover and died 24 hours later.

The tragic event again calls into question the terrible conditions in which thousands of immigrants are detained and remain in custody in the United States, while their asylum requests run through a maze of procedures that keep them in legal limbo for long and painful months

The big question is how many Central Americans will have suffered the same fate as the girl from Guatemala without the world knowing about it. A Texas congressman of Hispanic origin believes that in the course of recent years thousands of migrants have died in the attempt to achieve the American dream and announced that he will request an investigation at least to know the circumstances in which the child died.
