Nearly 30 Percent of Enrollees Absent in More Doctors of Brazil

A total of 2,776 professionals (30 percent) enrolled in the selection of the More Doctors Brazilian program are absent from their elected municipalities and today the deadline to appear in the territories is met.

According to the Ministry of Health, five thousand 935 physicians (about 70.5 percent) of the eight thousand 411 registered in the selection of the initiative had appeared until yesterday at the workplace.

The portfolio reported that the initiative received 36 thousand 490 registrations and occupied 98.7 percent of the 8 thousand 517 available places.

He also reported that 10 thousand 205 Brazilian or foreign doctors trained abroad signed up for the 106 remaining positions of More Doctors.

Journalistic media assure that the balance of the Ministry of Health does not show some problems that are being revealed by the municipal managers.

According to a study by the National Council of Municipal Health Secretaries (Conasems), released late last month, two thousand 844 physicians, accepted in More Doctors, were leaving their positions in the teams of the Health Strategy of the Family program.

Thus, they are only changing their current job positions for others, in search of more advantageous salaries and conditions, Conasems indicates.

Another problem is how many professionals give up staying in the places chosen for the difficult conditions of transfer or permanence.

According to Fato's Brazil portal, between 2013 and 2017, 54 percent of Brazilian physicians who participated in More Doctors gave up on a year and a half of the three planned in the work contract.

Senator Vaneza Grazziotin denied the contents of several newspapers that point out that 97 percent of the vacancies opened by convocation, in order to select doctors for the program, have already been fulfilled.

She denounced the serious situation of the remote municipalities and the indigenous and quilombola communities, whose population is without medical attention after the departure of the Cuban physicians from the program.

On November 14, Cuba decided not to continue in More Doctors before questioning and derogatory statements by President-elect Jair Bolsonaro against the island's professionals.

As part of More Doctors, said the Ministry of Health of the island, in the last five years nearly 20 thousand Cuban employees attended 113 million 359 thousand patients in some 3 600 municipalities, 'covering up to them a universe of up to 60 millions of Brazilians. ' sus/tgj/ocs
