Bogibeel, the Longest Railway Bridge in India and Second in Asia

The two-story bridge has two rail lines on the lower deck and a three-lane road at the top, and it is strong enough to withstand the movement of heavy military tanks.
The first stone of the work was placed in January 1997, but work began in April 2002.
The Bogibeel Bridge connects the south bank of the Brahmaputra River in the Dibrugarh district of the Indian state of Assam with Silapathar in the Dhemaji district, on the border with the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
The roadway means a major boost for defense logistics along the border in Arunachal Pradesh and will connect two rail networks that run on the north and south banks of the Brahmaputra River.
