Panama to Host 2019 Caribbean Series

Santo Domingo - The Commissioner's Office of the Confederation of Caribbean Professional Baseball reported Monday it was decided to host the 2019 Caribbean Series in Panama.
The event was withdrawn from Venezuela based on the situation in that nation once Washington and allied countries recognized the self-proclaimed President Juan Guaido, an act described as a coup d'état and a violation of institutionality. This will be held from February 4 to 10.
In a press conference offered by the commissioner of the Confederation, Juan Francisco Puello, all the countries of the Confederation and Panama will play in the tournament.
Besides, the main host of the tournament will be the Rod Carew stadium in the Panamanian capital, which has a capacity for 27,000 fans.
Barquisimeto's venue has been withdrawn for the second consecutive year, which is why on Tuesday the Venezuelan Minister of Youth and Sports, Pedro Infante, rejected the decision of the Caribbean entity and described it as unsporting.
Teams from Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Panama and Mexico will participate in the tournament.
