La Paz - Accusations of corruption in Quillacollo municipal mayor''s office, Bolivian department of Cochabamba, are investigated by an inter-institutional commission, Justice Minister Hector Arce said Thursday.

Investigations revealed that on January 9 a formal complaint was filed against local authorities and others involved for allegedly taking advantage of their public positions to benefit from economic benefits.

Arce declared that the commission, made up of members of that portfolio, the government, the attorney general's office, the public prosecutor's office, the comptroller's office and the police, will intervene this Thursday in government buildings to investigate and review the information collected, after arresting on Wednesday the mayor and president of the Municipal Council, Zacarias Jayta and Victor Osinaga, respectively.

Detainees face charges of alleged misuse of influence and concussion.

The Bolivian Minister of Justice affirmed that the operation is part of the decisions taken by the National Council for the Fight against Corruption approved by President Evo Morales.
