Foreign Minister Arreaza Criticizes Chile's Subordination to U.S.

Santiago de Chile - Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza considered that relations between Caracas and Santiago have been submitted completely by Sebastian Piñera''s government to Washington''s control.
In a telephone interview published on Friday in the newspaper La Tercera, the Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that President Sebastian Piñera has been one of the most dedicated to be noticed so that the United States recognizes his role as subordinate.
He considered that in his first government, Piñera was respectful of Venezuelan sovereignty, but it seems that 'President Piñera sold his sovereignty and autonomy to the United States. We regret it for the people of Chile, but Venezuela is not affected at all', the newspaper reports.
In early January, the Chilean government decided not to recognize a second presidential term of Nicolas Maduro and later expressed its support for the self-proclaimed 'in charge' president Juan Guaido, reiterated this week by accepting the appointment of Guarequena Gutierrez as Venezuela´s diplomatic representative in Chile.
In this regard, Arreaza pointed out that this designation has no validity, since it is part of a show that is trying to make with the media support of the United States.
On the retention of two Chilean journalists for several hours in Caracas, a fact that made relations even more tense, the Bolivarian government representative reiterated these communicators were outside the Miraflores Palace and did not have any type of accreditation or work visa.
It was done what is done in any country when a person is in irregular migratory process: put them on the immigration service´s order and return them to their country, he added.
Arreaza explained that journalists arrive in Caracas who claim to be sportsmen, tourists, and then go to the presidential palace, where there are political activities, in a kind of provocation to put together a media show very well asheduled and organized.
Regarding the internal situation in Venezuela, Arreaza explained that the opposition went down an unconstitutional road with an imaginary government, and also absolutely led from the United States.
He stressed that President Maduro government has always been open to dialogue with the United States and the opposition in Venezuela. We are supporting the initiative of Uruguay, Mexico, CARICOM and other countries for dialogue, as we encouraged the initiative of the Dominican Republic.
He also considered that the government of Nicolas Maduro is ready to face the United States sanctions and that there is 'a great oxygenation in the popular bases. We are ready for any scene, although we prefer the civilized one of dialogue and international law.
Regarding the attempts of the opposition to gain the army´s support, he pointed out that 'the loyalty of the Bolivarian National Armed Force is with the Constitution and with the commander in chief, President Nicolas Maduro. There is not the slightest doubt there.
Arreaza also referred to a possible trip to Caracas by former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and considered that she is being subjected to strong media pressure.
However, he said, Bachelet is a very serious and rigorous person, and that she can come and see the Venezuelan reality is always very healthy, he said.
