University of Informatics takes attractive proposals to Cuba´s Book Fair

Havana, Cuba -The possibility of downloading free applications and games is one of the attractions that the public can enjoy at the stand of the Universidad de las Ciencias Informáticas (UCI), one of the Cuban institutions participating at the XXVIII edition of the International Book Fair (FIL), Cuba 2019.

Sandy Núñez Padrón, marketing advisor of this center of high studies, referred to ACN, which among the proposals is the Cuban Journal of Computer Science, and as a novelty, the book of good practices for migration to free software, both texts published by the Futuro university publishing house.

He highlighted the importance of the latter title, due to the country's intention to migrate all platforms to safe and free software, to use them despite the restrictions of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

Dozens of young people, who can access and download applications such as ToDus and Apklis through a free wifi, as well as video games made by students of the University in collaboration with the Cuban Institute of Animation and Cinematographic Industry, have arrived at the popular stand since its opening, he added.

The young Alain Fernández Echenique told ACN about the usefulness and quality of the applications he found there, with emphasis on those dedicated to instant messaging.

Ediciones Futuro, the UCI publishing house that produces multimedia and multi-device content, dedicates its efforts to satisfying the needs of new readers, digital natives, explained Nuñez Padrón.

This edition of the Fair, considered a cultural phenomenon on the island, brings together 127 exhibitors from 44 countries who present more than 800 new products, of which more than 600 are literary.

Approximately four million copies of around four thousand titles will be available to the public at FIL Cuba 2019, an event that attracts readers who love literary festivals and are able to participate in the cultural dialogue proposed to them.
