Cuba Marks Human Rights Day
Havana Cuba - Cuba stressed the consolidation of Latin American Integration as part of the rights of the peoples to self-determination, development and peace.
During a ceremony at the Cuban Friendship Institute, its president Kenia Serrano said that Cuba calls for the supportive embrace since "Cuba is the home of all."
Cuba marks Human Rights Day amidst the update of its socialist economic model aiming at improving the quality of life of the people, said Serrano.
CARICOM Heads Attend Solemn Ceremony in Cuba

Havana, Dec 7 (Prensa Latina) The heads of state that are in Havana to attend to the V Summit Caricom-Cuba are going to participate in the homage dedicated to the hero Antonio Maceo and the 25th anniversary of the Tributo Operation.
Several of the heads of state and representatives of 14 member contries of the Community of Carebbean States are in Havana to take part in this solemn ceremony which is taking place in the Mausoleum of the Cacahual, that keeps the Maceo's remains.
Secretary General of CARICOM Stresses Support of Cuba to the Caribbean
Havana, Cuba - Irwin LaRocque, Secretary General of the Caribbean Community, highlighted the generous support of Cuba to the nations of this region, speaking at the Fifth Caricom-Cuba Summit, which began today at the Palace the Revolution in Havana.
A native of the Commonwealth of Dominica, LaRocque praised the contribution of Cuba in the areas of health, education, culture and sports, as well as the training of human resources for the prevention and combating of Ebola virus.
First VP Attends Opening of Havana Film Festival
Havana, Cuba -Cuba´s First Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel attended the inauguration of the XXXVI International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, in the Karl Marx Theater in Havana.
The ceremony on Thursday night, which was also attended by personalities like Abel Prieto, Advisor to the President of the Councils of State and Ministers; Cuban Culture Minister Julian Gonzalez, and Franco-Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet, began with an emotional tribute to Gabriel García Márquez.
Raul Castro Highlights Need for Unity of the Caribbean
Havana - President Raul Castro today stressed the need for unity among Caribbean countries and Cuba to confront common challenges imposed by globalization and stressed that only with close cooperation we can overcome.
In his opening speech to the Fifth Caricom-Cuba Summit mechanism, the Cuban leader recalled the history of slavery and the struggle for independence that share the Caribbean nations, which is the melting pot in which our culture has melted, he said.
Doctors from the province of Artemisa in Sierra Leona

On Oct. 2, nurses Lariel Laza Cárdenas (from José Ramón Martínez hospital in Guanajay), Jorge Martinez Cruz and Leonardo Baños Carmona (both from Ivan Portuondo’s , in San Antonio de los Baños) arrived in Sierra Leona to fight Ebola outbreak . They all left behind families and very close friends who support them in spite of the distance.
