Artemisa, Cuba - From a distant land, the continent where the human race comes from and the source of our tradition , customs ,mythology and culture , three doctors from Artemisa province show their experiences, full of a deep humanism, professional commitment and the pride they represent for the Cuban people.

On Oct. 2, nurses Lariel Laza Cárdenas (from José Ramón Martínez hospital in Guanajay), Jorge Martinez Cruz and Leonardo Baños Carmona (both from Ivan Portuondo’s , in San Antonio de los Baños) arrived in Sierra Leona to fight Ebola outbreak . They all left behind families and very close friends who support them in spite of the distance.

Havana, Cuba - Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, met on Tuesday afternoon with Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of the Republic of Congo, who is on an official visit to Cuba.

Artemisa, Cuba - This week a Carahata Diana 2001 will start traveling through the rails from La Conchita, in San Cristóbal, to the locality of Aguacate at south of the municipality of Candelaria, covering a distance of 42 kilometers, a new option for the transportation of passengers.

A few months ago a group of health workers in our town devote their efforts to stop a new virus that threatens the lives of humans: Ebola and many other staff prepare Venezuela to contribute in the fight against this scourge.

These health professionals, 115 in total, are distributed in different nations of the world such as Brazil, Sierra Leone and Liberia, the two latter on the African continent. Most of them left their families to go to unknown lands, at risk to their own lives, to stop the epidemic since its inception has claimed the existence of more than five thousand people.

Havana, Cuba - Cuban President Raul Castro welcomed at Havana´s International Airport the last group of athletes from the victorious sports delegation that participated at the 22nd Central American and Caribbean Games.

The Cuban President was accompanied by first vice- president Miguel Diaz-Canel and other government officials, Granma newspaper reported on Tuesday.
