Havana - The president of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, arrived in Havana Thursday evening on an official visit.

Havana, Cuba - Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning, received on Wednesday morning Fernando García Casas, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Kingdom of Spain, who chairs the Spanish delegation participating in the thirty-seventh session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), which is being held in Havana.

Havana - Cuba´s Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, stressed that conferring to the island the pro tempore chairmanship of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is a demonstration of its members’ confidence in the leadership of the Caribbean nation.

New Delhi - A Cuban delegation from the island''s biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry is attending Tuesday the 6th International Exhibition and Conference on Pharmaceutical Industry IPHEX 2108 which meets this week in New Delhi delegations from hundreds of countries.

The President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo received on Wednesday in Havana the President of the National Saharawi Council, Jatri Adduh and his visiting delegation.

Havana - Cuba assumed today the presidency of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) during the 37th session of the body, whose sessions take place here. Based at the Conference Center in Havana, the event is the major forum of the body, which positions equality as a fundamental principle for development, ECLAC''s executive secretary, Alicia Barcena, said.
