Hurricane Irma hits the Caribbean hard and approaches Cuba
Hurricane Irma has continued to move northwestward and by noon today, given its proximity to the eastern end of Cuba, wave trains are expected to arrive along the northern coast of this region of the country. The afternoon will see wave heights increasing by between four and six meters, storm surges, and coastal flooding in low areas of the north coast of Guantánamo, later extending to the coasts of Holguín.
