Cuba to Set Up Municipal Assemblies for New Mandate
Havana - The Municipal Assemblies of People''s Power will be set up in Cuba on December 17 for a new mandate that will run for two and a half years, Granma newspaper reports today.

The President of the Cuban national People´s Power Assembly (parliament) Esteban Lazo Hernandez convened this Friday the Tenth Ordinary Session of the Eighth Legislature for next December 21.

Prieto, former minister of Culture and currently serving as director of the Marti Program Office and president of the José Martí Cultural Society, was nominated for the post by Alpidio Alonso, current Culture Minister.
