Cuba-US baseball series kicks off today
Havana, Cuba - Cuba will face today the US national university team, in the town of Cary, North Carolina, in the first game of the traditional match between the two baseball powers.
The Cuban Coach Roger Machado confirmed the right-hander Freddy Asiel Alvarez as the starter for today, game that marks the beginning of the bilateral series in the fourth consecutive edition since its resumption in 2012, after 16 years of absence.

Tokyo - The new olympic stadium for Tokyo-2020 will cost some two billion dollars, 54 percent more than the fixed budget, announced the Japanese Sports Council.
Despite reducing the original volumen last May to one billion 372 million dollars, the present design will be still more expensive than planned.

Prague - The Welsh Millennium Stadium in Cardiff will host the final of the 2016-17 Champions League, the Executive Committee of the Union of European Football Associations(UEFA) announced today.

Rio 2016 Olympics to Be a Space for Peace, Says Rousseff
Río de Janeiro - President Dilma Rousseff said that the Rio 2016 Olympics will be an event to promote peace among the peoples.
After noting that just 409 are left to turn this city into the capital of the Olympics, Rousseff greeted and wished success to the 600 athletes that will take part in the 17th Pan-American Games in Toronto, to be held on July 10-26.
"You are the legitimate heirs of the devotion and excellence of Maria Lenk (1915-2007), the first Brazilian woman to set a world record and first Sputh American woman in competing in Olympic Games (Los Angeles, 1932)," Rousseff told the athletes.
Mass Sports Practice a Must in Cuba
Havana - Cuba´s comeback to the world´s sports elite depends on its rescue of mass sports practice from early childhood, said two times Olympic champion Alberto Juantorena.
In remarks to journalists here, Juantorena said that in addition to international practice, foreign contracts and other incentives, it was urgent to go back to the grass roots, scout for talent and maintain the existing facilities.

Havana, Cuba - Cuban first vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel handed over to five-time world champ wrestler Mijain Lopez the Cuban flag that will head the Cuban sports delegation to the 17th Pan-American Games in Toronto, Canada.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''.
