Cuban Minister of Culture Abel Prieto received the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ((UNESCO) Director-General Irina Bokova who is on an official visit to Cuba.

Paris - The UNESCO Executive Board has began today the interviews to nine candidates for the post of UN Director General, from Azerbaijan, China, Egypt, France, Guatemala, Iraq, El Salvador, Lebanon and Qatar.

The last days on April are always a reason of celebration for Artemisa´s inhabitants . More than two centuries ago, residents of the neighborhoods of Guadalupe and Jesus Maria settled here in the former San Marcos settlement , and brought with them their culture and traditions.

Armando Hart Dávalos was considered as a great teacher and follower of the work of eminent Cuban thinkers such as Varela, Martí and Varona, during a tribute ceremony in the Angerona art gallery, in Artemisa township.

In honor of May Day, a cultural gala was held on April 26 in the Lázaro Peña Theater affiliated with the Cuban Workers’ Federation (CTC).

Thanks to its outstanding work last year, a group of Artemisa´s writers and artists received a recognition at the Hall of the Awards, during the recently concluded Book Fair in the province.
