24th Intl. Book Fair Opens its Doors in Havana

Havana, Cuba - The 24th edition of Havana's International Book Fair, Cuba 2015, was officially inaugurated today in this capital, and will run until February 22 at its main venue of the San Carlos de La Cabaña Fortress and in other areas of the city.

On this occasion, the Fair is devoted to India, the first Asian nation to be the Guest of Honor of this annual cultural meeting, the inaugural ceremony of which has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

Havana Ready for Annual Book Fair

Havana - The Havana Book Fair, attracting thousands of people every year, will have India as the guest Country of Honor. And this year's Fair is dedicated to Dr. Olga Portuondo, National Social Sciences and Humanities Prize winner 2010, and Leonardo Acosta, National Prize for Literature winner 2006, who also received the National Music Prize in 2014.

A total a 27 titles about India and its literature will be ready for the 24th International Book Fair Havana 2015. The fair opens on February 12th and runs until the 22nd at the main site, the San Carlos de la Cabaña Fort in Havana. Then the book fair will extend across all the country’s provinces, until its conclusion in April in Santiago de Cuba, according to Juan Rodríguez, vice president of the Cuban Book Institute.

Cuba Attends Berlinade Film Festival

Berlin -The Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC) is present in the market session of the 65th edition of the prestigious Berlinade International Cinema Festival, running between February 5-15 in the German capital.

The film "Contigo pan y cebolla" (With you, Bread and Onion), a Cuban comedy by Cuban filmmaker Juan Carlos Cremata and based on a play written by Hector Quintero, was the proposal for the premier of the Cuban market in the event.

Cuban Litz Alfonso Ballet Takes Amigas to Canada

The Litz Alfonso Ballet is presented in Canada with the show AMIGAS, tour that will last until February 27 through major cities in Québec, always with the Cuban heat and energy transmitted through dance and fusion music.

Rock Super Group The Dead Daisies to Offer Two Concerts in Cuba

Havana - The rock multinational super-group The Dead Daisies, composed of several heavyweights of the genre, will offer two concerts in Cuba, Granma newspaper reported.

The concerts are planned for next February 25 in the Maxim Rock, feud of that music in Cuba, and three days later at the Salon Rosado de la Tropical, regular space for dancers.
