Cuban Ballet School has one name: Fernando Alonso
Havana - Government and cultural personalities unveiled today a plaque accrediting the name of the emblematic pedagogue Fernando Alonso to the national ballet school.
The National Cuban Ballet historian, Miguel Cabrera, extolled the founder of the company and the academy and his technical sense and his intellectual and scientific worry to assume art as an act of thought. Cabrera explained that the pedagogical forum Fernando Alonso in memoriam held last October under his conduction, exposed the international transcendence of the maestro of most of the jewels of the Cuban ballet.
National Ballet of Cuba to Put Swan Lake on again in February

Havana -The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will present again next February the world classic Swan Lake, according to a statement by the institution.
This obligatory piece in the repertoire of all major companies in the world will be available to the public in this capital on February 13, 14 and 15 and then on the 20, 21 and 22 of the same month at the National Theatre.

United Buddy Bears Exhibition Opens in Havana

La Habana -The traveling exhibition United Buddy Bears was open today in Havana for the Cuban people and tourists, with bears of real size in one of the oldest public spaces in the capital, the San Francisco de Asis Plaza, a place full of memories of cultural and historical events.
The German Ambassador Peter Scholz said that he hopes that this event will be a message of tolerance and friendship between both countries and he express his willingness that this porject wont dissapear without being heard.
Vestido de novia screened in Cuban movie theaters
The Cuban film Vestido de Novia or Dressed like a Bride is currently being screened in Havana’s most important movie theaters, featuring the story of first Cuban who had a sex reassignment surgery.
Starred by Laura de la Uz, Isabel Santos and Luis Alberto García, the film, which won the Popularity or Audience’s Award at Havana’s 36th New Latin American Film Festival in December, 2014, was directed by Marily Solaya, who had already made a documentary titled In the Wrong Body.
African American Anthropology Workshop and Story Tellers Festival in Havana

The 19th Scientific Workshop of Social African American Anthropology and the 8th Storytellers Encounter Afropalabra Festival got underway in the Cuban capital.
Scholars, researchers, artists and performers are meeting in Old Havana from January 5th through 10th, coinciding with the 29th anniversary of Old Havana’s House of Africa, and marking the beginning of cultural life in the city in 2015.
