Cuban Conducta Wins 36 Latin American Film Festival

Havana, Cuba - The Cuban film Conducta took the Coral Prize to the Best Full-Length Fiction Movie at Havana´s 36 Festival of the New Latin American Cinema.

Conducta, directed by Ernesto Daranas recently won has won a total of nine prizes plus a mention, including five collateral distinctions and the Signis Prize. The winners at the festival were announced at the closing ceremony of the event at Havana´s Chaplin movie theater.

Fatima, First Cuban Film in Havana Festival

Havana, Cuba - Directed by the actor Jorge Perugorría, the film Fatima or The Fraternity Park will be the first Cuban premiere in the 36th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, which runs in this city until December 14.

Yara cinema will host in the showings of 3:00 pm and 10:30 pm the presentation of the feature film, starring Carlos Enrique Almirante, Tomás Cao, Broselianda Hernandez, Mirtha Ibarra and Nestor Jimenez, and based on a homonymous story by Miguel Barnet.

Brazilian Actor Laments Lack of Promotion for Lat Am Films

Havana - Brazilian director and actor Carlos Alberto Riccelli, well-known worldwide for his role as Cesar Ribeiro in the soap opera Vale Tudo, lamented the lack of information on Latin American films due to the power of the US film industry.

"It is a cultural problem because US films have dominated the whole world except India, which has a very strong industry", Riccelli told the Prensa Latina news agency during the film festival of Havana.

ALBA Awards for Literature and the Arts 2014

The ALBA Awards for Literature and the Arts 2014 by the lifework will be released today Wednesday after the deliberations of the international jury will meet at the Casa del ALBA Cultural Havana.

The prestigious jury is made up by personalities of the cultures of the region as Roberto Fernández Retamar, Cuban poet and essayist, ALBA Prize for Literature in 2008; Ali Rodriguez Araque, politician, lawyer and Venezuelan diplomat; and Emiliano Luca Mazza, producer and Uruguayan filmmaker.

Video Clip by Ian Padron and Buena Fe Wins Major Awards in Cuba

Havana-Cuban filmmaker Ian Padron and music group Buena Fe were today the winners in the main video event of this country, Lucas 2014.
The video clip "Se bota a matar", directed by Ian Padron and sung by Buena Fe, won the awards for Best Video of the Year, Best Fusion Video and Best Production.

The awards ceremony of Lucas 2014 began yesterday night and continued until the first half hour of today at the Karl Marx Theater, packed with thousands of music fans.
