Cuban Literature Succeeds at Quito Book Fair

Quito - Just three days after beginning the Quito International Book Fair, some Cuban titles offered on the event were already sold out, an example of the reception given by the audience to that literature, sources from the Caribbean island informed today.
Nancy Hernandez, an expert leading the delegation, told Prensa Latina that the Ecuadorians are showing an enormous interest in the offers brought from Havana, in the event taking place at the House of Culture of this capital.
Relevant Cuban Musicians Premiere Adaptation of Mozart Sonata

Havana - The Cuban musicians Frank Fernandez and Niurka González will debut in the country on November 27 with a transcription for piano and flute, one of the most famous sonatas of Mozart, as announced here.
The piece was originally written in the eighteenth century for violin and piano by the brilliant Austrian composer.
The concert will also include works by Bach, Tchaikovsky and Fernandez himself, author of more than 650 compositions for dissimilar formats such as ballet, chorus, soundtracks for film, radio and television, among others.
Brazilian Project Includes Screening of Nine Documentaries in Cuba

Havana- The Brazilian project Marks of the Memory includes the showing in this capital display from today of nine documentaries that show traces of the military dictatorship in the South American country.
Among the titles that will be screened until the 29th in the Multicine Infanta is included Military of Democracy and Lawyers against dictatorship, both of Silvio Tender, and Two stories and Our stories, of Angela Zoe, reported the organizers.
Book on Fidel Castro´s Speeches Launched in Havana
Havana, Cuba - The book entitled “Patria o Muerte, Venceremos!” (Homeland or Death, we shall overcome!) by Italian professor Paola Laura Gorla was launched at the University of Havana on Monday.
The work addresses the literary values of Fidel´s speeches, by considering a selection of them since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
Cuban Music Storms Las Vegas Grand Garden Taking Three Latino Grammy Awards

Havana, Cuba - Las Vegas´Grand Garden was the scenario for the Cuban tune Bailando (Dancing) by songwriter Descemer Bueno and Gente de Zona band to take three Latino Grammy awards in the modalities of Best Song of the Year, Best Urban Performance and Best Urban Song.
The popular song, which was also interpreted by Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias, was one of the most awarded tunes at the event.
"This is for all Cubans!” said the singers in a video as they received their awards at the ceremony.
Cuban President Greets Anniversary of National Symphony Orchestra

Havana - Cuba''s President Raul Castro stressed the work by the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN) in the defense and promotion of culture, Granma newspaper reported today.
On occasion of the 55th anniversary of such musical group, the head of State considered the OSN foundation an early sign of the importance the new Revolution gave to culture.
