Havana - Cuban intellectual, Havana City Historian Eusebio Leal, will be awarded the Henry Hope Reed prize by the US University of Notre Dame, in Indiana, in recognition of his efforts to protect the patrimonial architecture, announced the Havana City Historian''s Office.

Havana - The group Major Lazer will give its first concert in this capital on Sunday, March 6, generating great expectation among the island´s youth.

The performance of the group in the Antimperialist Tribune along the seawall (Malecon), will be the first big-scale show of electronic music from the United States in the island, as several media described it.

Over 400 thousand people attended a concert by the US Major Lazer project Sunday at Havana´s Jose Marti Anti-Imperialist Plaza, on the city´s sea-front drive.

Observers say that the crowd largely made up of young people enjoy during five hours of electronic music in what is considered the largest attended concert of its kind in Cuba.

Havana - The "Guillermo Barreto in Memoriam" Drum Festival begins today in this capital and celebrates the 15th anniversary of an event, aimed at rescuing and promoting the tradition of Cuban popular music.

Havana -The 15th Cuban Drum Festival is hosting a rumba dance competition, a first in the history of the festival. According to Giraldo Piloto, the director of the event, the inclusion of the competition in the festival is in recognition of the place this genre has on the island - and will help disseminate the dances and sounds.
