Preserving Ernest Hemingway's Legacy in Cuba

Havana - The preservation of the Cuban legacy of the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature will be discussed today here during the 15th Ernest Hemingway International Colloquium, to be run at the capital's O''Farril Palace.
According to the event's program, scheduled until June 21, the issue will be in charge of Mary Jo Adams, executive director of Finca Vigia Foundation, of the United States, and Ada Rosa Alfonso, top director of the Ernest Hemingway Museum, of Cuba.
Cuban National Ballet Revives Version of Carmen

Havana - The Cuban National Ballet is to revive the most transcendent work of choreographer and one of the company´s founders Alberto Alonso, his version of Carmen, announced the company led by prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso.
The season from June 20 thru 28 at the National Theatre will have in the leading roles the first figures Viengsay Valdes, Anette Delgado, Sadaise Arencibia, Dani Hernandez, Victor Estevez and the first dancers Luis Valle, Dayesi Torriente and Estheysis Menendez, among others.
Book on Raul Castro by Russian Writer Nicolai Leonof Coming Soon to Havana

Havana - The book by Russian writer Nicolai Leonof entitled "Raul Castro: A man in Revolution," will soon be presented in Havana.
Published by the Cuban Editorial Capitan San Luis, the new book makes reference to the life of the president of the Caribbean nation through a chronology of the main dates of his political actions. The book includes more than 80 photos, some of them previously unpublished.
Havana's Biennial Surpasses Expectations, Cuban Minister Says

Havana - Culture Minister Julian Gonzalez stated here that the 12th Havana Biennial surpasses today all expectations with the participation of more than 40 countries until June 22.
This happens due to the quality of Cuban artists and their special dedication and commitment, to present the works in a supreme exhibition of talent, the minister said in statements to the Cuban News Agency.
Havana Biennial with Exhibitions in Capital''s Communities
Havana-Albanian artist and Berlin resident, Anri Sala, is exhibiting today his art in one of the coast communities of the Cuban capital with his exhibit "To each his own in bridges."
With this exhibit as part of the 12th Biennial of Havana, the European artist has already toured some popular neighborhoods of the capital, such as Parque Trillo, a park located in Cayo Hueso, and visited the "Wifredo Lam" Contemporary Art Center. Sala will exhibit today at the entrance of Havana harbor in Casablanca, known as fishermen town.
Ariguanabo at Havana Biennial

Artemisa, Cuba - Two ariguanabense artists participating at Havana Biennial. William Cruz and Arley Perera swell the list of the participants, is one of the most attractive editions of the prestigious event and show the public in a different way the combination of different symbols of world culture, through digital art.
According to William Cruz Perdomo, the exhibition's central theme the fusion of culture and society, with the aim of showing a new view on the world scene. The works are made of charcoal on canvas large format and manipulated, printed on photographic paper and digital photography are about a dozen works, which were launched this May 26th and will be available to the public until June 22nd.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
