24th International Book Fair reaches Artemisa

Artemisa, Cuba - More than 700 titles for children, young persons and adults will be available to readers in the province of Artemisa, where were inaugurated this Tuesday the Twenty-Fourth Book Fair and Literature.
Until next April 12 the shelves and kiosks of the fairgrounds in this municipality will market about 79 000 copies, said Margarita Callamo Vaillant, Provincial Director of the sector of Culture.
XIX International Biennial of Graphic Humor, Cuba 2015, a new space for understanding

The International Biennial of Graphic Humor, Cuba 2015, under the theme "War Games" will become a place for fraternity and understanding. The Circle of comedians and cartoonists of the Union of Cuba Journalists and the Humor Museum in San Antonio de los Baños, together with the Provincial Culture Department of Artemisa sponsor the nineteenth edition, to be held from April 5th to 8th 2015 .
The event is held every two years, cartoonists from around the world, the question of this edition moves the most suggestive answers.
Arts and Culture Summit for Peace Opens in Colombia

Bogota - Hundreds of artists and thinkers participate in the Summit of Arts and Culture for Peace opened today for the first time to support efforts seeking the end of the armed conflict in Colombia.
According to organizers, creators and intellectuals from around the world will participate in the event, which fosters spaces to discuss the role they can play to promote a scenario of peace in Colombia, after more than 50 years of conflict.
Cartoonists to Participate in Cuba’s International Biennial

Havana - Cartoonists from 23 countries will compete at the 19th International Cartoonist Biennial to take place in Cuba from April 5th to 8th, jury president Reinerio Tamayo announced today.
Cartoonists and comic writers from the Cuba’s Journalists Union and the Humor Museum in San Antonio de los Baños, are promoting the meeting between national and foreign professionals.
Musical Composition Prize Returns to Casa

Havana -The Composition Prize returns to Casa de las Américas was summoned here by the cultural institution and in its sixth edition will evaluate about two dozen works from 10 countries.
María Elena Vinueza, director of the Department of Music of Casa, highlighted the Latin American and Caribbean mark of this venue that will be in sesión from April 6 to 10 in this capital. In parallel to the prize will session the Fourth Latin American Workshop on Composition and Interpretation that will feature the performance of Puerto Rican group of Contemporary Camera Music, Alea 21.
Russia: Guest of Honor at CUBADISCO 2015

Russia will be the guest of honor at the largest Cuban music and recording industry event, the 19th International Festival CUBADISCO 2015, scheduled for May 15 through 25.
The gathering will include a trade fair dedicated to symphony and choral music and its honorary presidents are the Director of the Cuban National Choir, maestra Digna Guerra, and Cuban composer and orchestra conductor, Guido López Gavilán.

The Los Cuenteros Puppet Theater Company celebrated its 50th anniversary this November 19 at the Museum of Humor, located in San Antonio de los Baños, with the exhibition ''Fifty years telling stories''. The exhibition shows photographs, puppets and costumes used by Los Cuenteros in various performances since 1969.
