Yadelkis Hernández Morales, president of the Municipal Assembly, stated: ''Representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba, the People's Councils, the Municipal Assembly of People's Power and various work centers participated, taking into account that it is essential to carry out this action systematically, as the African Giant Snail reproduces very easily and quickly.''

Giant African Snail is one of the 100 World's Worst Invasive Alien Species. It is considered a threat to the natural ecosystem in many countries. One snail can lay as many as 300 eggs per month. It's also considered a threat because, as herbivore, it can damage crops and other natural resources. I's known to eat more than 500 plant species. This snail can also carry a parasitic nematode that can lead to meningitis in humans.
