Havana, Cuba - Army General Raul Castro, President of the councils of State and Ministers, met on Wednesday afternoon with former Spanish President Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, who is on a visit to Cuba.

Tackled during the cordial meeting were topics of mutual interest on the regional and international agendas as well as the historic relations uniting the two countries.

Artemisa, Cuba - More members of the UJC in the agricultural sector, key for the economy of our country and the leading role that they must take on tasks related to the present sugar harvest, focused the debates of the Assembly of Balance of the Young Communists Federation in Bahía Honda.

San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, Cuba - The Amateur Radio Club of the municipality remains active in order to establishing communication inside and outside the country. Jorge Ignacio Llanes, president of the radio club in this locality states that constitute a non-governmental institution with social character, the territory has 50 members with an heterogeneous composition in a wide range of occupations and ages. At present children and young people are interested mainly as hobby, its foundation refers to 1964.

La Habana - Cuban president Raúl Castro attended today the ceremony of awarding the Titles of Heros of the Republic of Cuba to the Cuban Five who were unjustly imprisioned in United States.

Cuban heros Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, René González and Fernando González were arrested in Miami on 12th of Spetemeber 1998 and condemed to severe sentences, included a doble life imprisioment.

Artemisa, Cuba - On February 24, in the 120 anniversary of the restarting of independence war, the assembly’s process of candidates nomination for delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power began and it will take place until March 25.

“Today we plan to develop an assembly in each municipality and on March 25 we expect to hold one assembly in each people’s council; and then we will continue, gradually, in other areas of the province. The district supports up to 8 and a nominated by each of them, which is chosen among the leaders," says Vilma Zamora, president of the Provincial Electoral Commission.

Havana, Cuba - The Seventh Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) will be held in April 2016 as announced this Monday during the 10th Plenary of the Central Committee of the political organization.

The Plenary, presided over by the First Secretary of the PCC Raul Castro, approved the planning of a set of activities for the 2015-2018 period, fulfilling the agreements of the Sixth Congress, which include the improvement of the Political-Administration Division of the country, the spreading of the new model of work for the local People´s Power Assemblies and the election process.
