A week after the January 1, 1959, triumph of the Revolution, Fidel entered Havana and history. The revolutionaries' Caravan of Liberty was met by jubilant crowds waving the July 26th Movement flag and throwing flowers. Yesterday, 58 years later, the capital again received a band of youthful rebels.
Havana- A tribute to Fidel Castro on January 1st at Santiago de Cuba's Santa Ifigenia Cemetery -–the revolutionary leader's final resting place-- will be the highpoint of activities celebrating the 58th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
With a program including pieces of his own and other composes, the musicians is also commemorating the entrance in Havana of the Liberty Caravan, headed by Castro in 1959.
Buenos Aires-Chilean deputy Camila Vallejo said in Argentina that the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, “was a man of strong principles, who bestowed human rights and dignity on his people.”
Lima-Various political and social Peruvian organizations today paid tributes to historical Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, after a month of his death, and to the Argentinean-Cuban revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara and the 58th anniversary of the triumph of the 1959 Revolution.
La Paz- The Bolivian Minister of the Presidency, Juan Ramon Quintana, praised today the work by Cuban doctors in this country and regarded them as an example of the humanist legacy by the historic leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro.
Havana - The King of Spain, Felipe VI, is presenting the historian of Havana, Eusebio Leal, this Wednesday with the Grand Cross of the Royal and Distinguished Spanish Order of Charles III, in the context of the 500th anniversary of this capital.Read More
